22" Wheels For Explorer

I wouldn't worry about the 3% deal. How many vehicles do you see with way over sized wheels and tires. Yes the odometer and speedometer will be off, but I wouldn't worry about the rest. Maybe provide a bit of extra distance in hard braking situations.

true dat...back in 2002 tossed some 18x9 mustang wheels on my 99 EX and the trade in for the EX was a 07 F150 on 20" Rockstars... I'm doing it

I doubt that in 2002 the vehicles had all the electronic circuits, modules and features that they have today.

:thumbdwn::mad: u right but its all bout the look not how it rides, right JK.:salute:

OK so does anyone have 265/45/22 tires?

My 2008 has 285/40/22 tires, surely I can get a similar diameter out of my 2016! I do have the perfect offset though for it to work, and they're 22x9 I believe.

I would love to shove 265/45/22 in there.

If you go to Tirerack.com, you will not find any 265/45/22's. However they do carry them in 285/45/22. The later being about an inch taller.

Good call, thanks!

10.5s will fit with the right offset. I was running them on my 11 EX.

Just keep in mind that the accepted maximum diameter variance is 3%. The 285/45R22 will exceed that by more than 2 times at 6.85%. The main reason to stay within the 3% maximum is to reduce the chances of brake failure. Bigger wheels, bigger tires = more weight and stress on OEM brake system.

Thanks for the heads up. I am aware of this and for the past decade all of my vehicles have exceeded this without issues. Your point is valid it's just a risk I am willing to take for aesthetics and given my experience driving 200k combined on very oversized wheels and maintaining these vehicles throughout that time period.

I'm less conservative and more superficial than most lol

What are u guys doing with wheel sensors. Can I reuse the stocks or do I need new ones?

it looks lower in the gas station picture? I bought some tpms sensors from overseas for 35$ shipped for all 4, been about a month and working well so far, they self learned. The other option is buy new tpms valve stems and unbolt your stock sensors and transfer them over. I tried to place the sensors in a pressurized vessel but they need regular movement to "wake" them up or the light comes on.

I would run the Ford Flex? springs if you're going for looks, but it will be really low especially with running boards, they would be useless.

Looking great... What type of led bar you have installed and can you post a pic of it without being turn on???

Thanks in advance.
