That sounds crazy, but there's a guy on here running 22x10.5 in rear and I belive 22x9 upfront and he hasn't said anything about computer issues but I could be wrong. I think ass long as all the tires are the same it should be ok. He's running 285/25 all the way around...

Just make sure that you stay within the maximum diameter variance of 3% compared to OEM. The modules, like ABS, are programmed for the OEM tire size. Going over will also negatively affect the brakes and suspension parts.I am going to purchase 22s for my EXP Sport. I am going to lower it too. I want to push the wheels out so they are flush. What would a good offset be for 22x9.5?
I have 22 X 9 wheels with 285/40 tires.
Welcome to the Forum Ryan.Looking to buy a set of 22x9.5 wheels with a 15mm offset. Not looking to lower the vehicle, but want to fill the wheel well as much as possible without any rubbing.
What's the max tire size you guys are running on a set of 22x9.5?
Ryan
Do you experience any rubbing? What kind of offset on those wheels? Looks great!
The Base and XLT have the 245/60R18 tires as standard and the Limited, Sport and Platinum have the 255/50R20 as standard. The 285/40R22 would have a diameter difference of 4.7%. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=245-60r18-285-40r22I have a 2016 and notice that some trims have the 245/60/18 (mine) and others are running 255/50/20. I know the rule is to stay within 3% and I'm looking to go from the 245/60/18 to a 285/40/22. That size stays pretty much within the 255/50/20 size (almost, at 3.1%), but not within the size on mine, 245/60/18.
Is there a difference between the trims that have different wheel/tire sizes? Would I still be ok running a 285/40/22 or should I err on the side of caution?
Ryan

The systems on your Explorer were designed with your OEM size in mind. Therefore don't compare other tires to the ones on the trims with the 20".

Although I'm not 100% sure, I don't think so. The 2016 and 2017 models apparently have pre programmed wheel sizes that can be selected with the aid of IDS or I think Forscan, but even those sizes are only for wheels that fall within the acceptable diameter range. Going over that diameter variance size (3%) will add extra strain on brake and suspension parts. So Peter is it possible to get the ABS system updated to a new tire size if we wanted to go from the 18in XLT to 22in wheels and tires? I believe the XLT has the same size brake system right?
Welcome to the Forum. Its prob obvious but pic 1 is stock, pic 2 is 22" wheel and tire upgrade, pic 3 is H&R spring kit - I thought it just might help others trying to decide if they see the progression.
No rubbing, drives great, little bit more bounce at full spring compression, Amazing improvement on stopping power w EBC Rotors and pads.
