I`ve done plenty of searching and reading over the past few weeks. My question: Can you identify which component of the timing system is the trouble by sound and rpm range? I get no rattle at start up, no rattle at idle. I get the whirling spark knock-ish rattle at 2800 rpm +/-... Sounds like its coming from the transmission area... 5 speed btw. All new timing kit, OEM of course, when engine rebuilt in in 2010. About 25k miles on it since then. Weekend driver. 2004 Ranger. Three different mechanics swear its coming from transmission. Going to get Fords opinion tomorrow. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
