4wd wont engage in high or low

i have a 96 explorer xlt with 4wd and i flip the switch and the light on the dash comes on but it wont engage
anything will help thanks

Check your connection to the transfer case shift motor. It you have power to it when you switch it over then the motor might be gone and you need a new one.
