So I ripped out the automatic and put a 5 speed in. I bought the 5spd used from a member of this board (that said it worked) and it's making a grinding noise in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and probably reverse but I don't go to fast in that gear. The noise is only when it's under a load and when it's in gear, not entering the gear.

The whole swap went well but this tranny is making noise. I put the recomended ATF fluid in as suggested by the Chilton's manual. Then I tried some Lucas additive to try and quite her down. No improvments. So do I need a new tranny? What's wrong with this one?

The real question is do I need to stop driving on this tranny NOW so that the rebuild will be less expensive or will it not hurt anything major on my 7.5 mile trip to work every morning? Thanks.
