5MT 4-Doors

How rare are the 5MT 4Drs? I scored this 4.0 OHV last Summer with 89k miles and didn't want to let it go because it was in such great shape. Just wondering if they are unicorns because I haven't seen any others.

They are fairly uncommon.

I've seen a few but definitely not common. People are usually really surprised they even came with a stickshift.

They are fairly rare, used to be a ford technician and only saw a few over 7 years at the dealer. Started workin for Chrysler almost a year ago but still rockin my 96 XLT 4.0L M50d r1. 241,000 and runs like a champ!

Wow that's crazy! I've owned abou or eight different explorers and mountaineers including some two doors in there but I don't think I'm getting rid of this one.

Ya, the 4.0 OHV manual is a solid drivetrain. If you’re interested in performance parts for it check out moronav6racing.com. They specialize in ford engine parts. Hoping to build mine someday.

Rarer are the SOHC M5OD 4x4 4 doors' especially since they were only available towards the end of the 2nd generation.
