can anyone list for me the potential external leak paths for a post transmission rebuild unit - it is as simple as the pan ? The rebuild was done by aamco 24 k miles ago - I expect they used advance auto seal - I do not know brand - I’ve tried to add a little more torque - the atf accumulates on the rear pan bolts and some on the driver side pan bolts more aft than forward - does ford recommend a sealent - the truck is a 98 4.0 sohc

A neoprene gasket is preferred, make sure the pan rail is flat before putting it back together.

Just a follow up - is the own cork and did the own use a pen sealent?

Would you as far as buying a new pan and if so from where - ?
