I live in Southwest Tennessee, and we got like 3 inches of ice yesterday evening/last nite.

I put the X in 4WD and motored right along. I understand that I still have to stop the vehicle, so yes, I was careful. It really is nice to pull off from a stop sign, red light, etc....and not worry about the back end sliding around on me.

It did give me some strange popping noises, etc. this afternoon on the way home, but I think that might be bushings or something due to the rough surface formed by the ice/sleet melting today and refreezing on the roadway.

If there is pavement on the road, especially on turns, you will get popping noises caused by the driveline windup not being able to release cause the road is not slick enough for the front wheels to slip.

3" of ice in Mem is bad. Memphis always gets the bad ice. We got 15 inches of snow here. Evansville, IN got 19 inches. St. Louis, MO got zero inches. hehehe.

Evansville ended up with a little over 22 in. It was a great test for my Explorer and it passed with flying colors :)
