Well the story starts like this , for a week i heard a clunk under the Ex , checked the slip joint , and wasnt that , sent it to a local 4x4 specialist and he told me after checking the entire vehicle that was the T case , opened it and it was a mess , the Tcase had the chain elongated and some of the clutches had some abnormal wear , my explorer is a 96 sport controltrac , and has on the dash 2wd 4wd auto , and 4 low , so the mechanic said that swapping it wasnt possible cause my explorer has a very "rare" tcase , when asked again he said he cant do it ,has never been done before ! , i know about the t case speed sensor on this particular model (and i can live reading my speed from the GPS) , which transfer do i have , and which one can i swap ? including F150 or other EX models .

PD :Here in southamerica there arent so many explorers on junkyards so choices are limited .

You can use any t-case from a v6 explorer or Mountaineer from 95 to 97. These have the speed sensor in the t-case that you need. You have the Borg Warner 4405(bw4405).

Thanks for the Info , the mechanic says that i have a transfer that is called the big transfer , and the pull outs that he has located are the small ones ! i just read in another forum about the 4405 is also used on Mercedes vehicles Like the ssanyong musso , is there another t case apart of the 4405 or smaller variant that can be bolted to the tranny ? is a newer 97 and up or older one compatible , i know sensors stuff , i can make a small microcontroller circuit with an encoder to replace that , but the question is , can i hook up a newer T case ? appart from the 4405 ?
