My 97 Ford Explorer Sport experiences valve pinging if I accelerate too hard until the vehicle is completely warmed up. This problem is much more present in warmer weather conditions (the truck accelerates great without any pinging if the weather is really cold). Once warmed up fully, the problem totally goes way.
I've had the dealer try to fix it to no avail several times, including full blown tune ups, and a de-carbonizing procedure. My personal suspect is it is more a sensor or chip issue, but I don't know what to test or isolate to try to resolve it. Any tips or suggestions?
Thanks!
