OK, here's the deal...

I'm sick of my stock engine. My 160 hp. engine is mated to a 4300 lb. truck that has 3.55 gears. Our thunderbird has a 4.6l v8 mated to a car with less than 3.27 gears and at 3/4 the weight.

Don't get me wrong, I love my explorer and its engine, but I leave the office and pull out of the parking lot onto a 55mph highway...

Anyhow, I want to change the air induction (MAF, filter, throttle body). I'm familiar with most of the explorer, and accessories made for it. I can't seem to find any information on the MAF units though. I think I saw somewhere that the pro-flow bullet MAF (75mm particularly, the one sold at Vanir tech) attaches directly to a K&N conical filter. Is this true? I know the stock MAF and the 73mm pro-flow and vortech MAF have that square flange on the end, causing the need for the aluminum adapter in the kkm setup. Also, aren't there some vacuum lines running to the stock airbox? Is there anything I am removing or need to modify by doing this MAF replacement?

It would be nice to find an article on the subject of air induction on explorers and your options. Seeing as how I can't find one, I'm thinking about writing one for the rest of the stockers out there. I'll give it a shot if Rick will post one on the site.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
