Yup :) Slackware usually, but lately redhat because it comes with a smp kernel out of the box. I've been to lazy to recompline a kernel for slackware with smp support

Yeah im running fedora core 3. I have to say im pretty pleased with it, it also supports symmetric multiprocessing right out the box so no need to recompile anything. Just had fun with X11. Why do they have to change everything so much! Thats got to be the only down side of linux.

The other day it took me an hour to configure apache / php and mysql on an FC3 box. And four hours to configure it on a windows box. Of course there was more to install on the windows box…. VI for example just to make the operating system usable.

Sure, use Mandrake 10.1. Started od Slakware by d/ling about a million floppies on a 2400 buad modem, and it was a fast modem.
Nowadays, just d/l the dvd iso, burn it and install.

64 Bit from AMD :) Nice .... I hope this will get people to use Linux and stick with it.
FC3 is pretty clean and bug free from what I can see.

But you could always put MS Windows on there and run in 32 bit mode!!!! But why would you want to do that when you have a nice 64 Bit system.

      Thanks Microsoft :)

Apparently the beta is good... its the 3rd party hardware developers that are doing a piss poor job developing drivers for 64bit...

      Hey guys!

I have a plan to put a modded XBOX in my Ex to use as a MP3/Video jukebox. What would you advise for this process. I know I can run LINUX on it, but I have little knowledge of the actual OS as of yet. What do you think of the idea. It shouldn't cost me much since the XBOX is one that was given to me with a faulty hard-drive.

      I figure:
      99 for 120 gig HD
      40-50 mod chip
      199 vid screen
      75 various wiring

I 'm also wondering is there a gps or mapping program that I could use on the box.

Linux on the XBox is not very stable. You'd be best running something like XBMP (XBox Media Player).

I guess that nixes my idea for the GPS. That was my reason for wanting LINUX.

Overclockix (Knoppix clone/upgrade) installed to the HDD, not just using the CD. About 13 hours into an installation of Gentoo on my secondary machine, the going has been fairly smooth, and the power the secondary rig will have (Dual 2800+ MPs, 4gbs of RAM, 6600gt) only reason I call it my secondary is because I can't use it now since I am installing Gentoo and will be spending the next 2 weeks just trying to get it optomized.
