Why weld it? A spool is cheap - if you really want the axles bound up like that. Just don't drive it on the street - you will snap an axle the first time you go around a turn...

na you wont. ive got a 75 bronco with the 9" rear with a spool and 35's, and its ok. you just have to be careful with turns/parking lots/pulling into and out of driveway etc.
