I'm planning to replace the pads and rotors this weekend and noticed that none of the Ford documentation (service manual or instruction sheet that comes with the Ford pads) talks about putting grease on the stainless slide/abutment clips that hold the ends of the pads. I've found mixed information online about using grease on them. I wonder if they don't want them greased in order to avoid attracting grit.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I use grease on them. lightly - very lightly.

and make sure it's only on the ends - never on the pad material or the rotor.

and I thin coat a touch on the backs of the pads - just to combat any squeek or noises there. never had a problem in years.
