BW1354 carnage

Blew up my 1354 in my Explorer. If I had to point to a possible cause, I’d say I may have not always stayed on top of the slow fluid leak and ran it low occasionally.

Carnage was not limited to the planetary gearset, but it was probably the most impressive.

Does anyone know of any inherent flaws to the 1354? Besides running them low on fluid......
 






Seems very rare for these cases to have any sort of issues, other than the shift motors.
I’d bet in the twenty years I’ve been on this forum, there’s only been a handful of 1354 failure threads.
 






yes and most of them were out of fluid due to a leak
That is the only real weak spot, for some reason they seem to really like lubrication LMFAO!!
They are tough even with the V8, 37's, doubler, these t cases hold up until they are dry!
