Donner, how do you like the overall look of an antenna that big being on your roof? Do you wish it was black at all to match with the rest of your equipment?

nah, i don't like it... but i'll change it later...

what i do like is that it is very visible... but i'd like it to match (i can't see it when i'm driving, so...) but i'm thinking i'll go to a truck stop and find another antenna. but the location is ideal and the way it's bolted in, it's a part of the vehicle now... but if i forget it and drive into the garage, oh heck! so i might get a more flexible deal... or post in Whoops!! after i tear up everything :D

Oh wow, I didn't even notice something. You don't have a spring. I highly suggest getting a spring for it.. (if you do get a spring, a re-tune is recommended, go to radio shack and buy a SWR tuner, they're dirty cheap and it's as easy as turning knobs..) so if you Do drive into a garage or something it can easily flex without damaging anything. The antenna itself is quite flexable but a spring is definitely nice to have. Less stress on the whole setup too while driving, less stress on the antenna and the mount.
How big is that antenna anyways? I've got a 4FT on mine, my friend's durango has a 2.5FT which doesn't look too bad.

I will do that... in fact, they are next door. I'll be back in a couple hours. The thing whistles while I drive... trip.

    got it...

will need to have it mounted elsewhere... not sure. taller than the garage, but smaller than the first one. that wasn't for a passenger car, I was told.

Looks fine to me, you just need a spring.. I highly suggest you get a spring... get a spring, re-tune the antenna and go with it..

thanks... i gotta go back to RS today to return the other antenna. next time i buy from somewhere that can get me the right things up front. i went to 3 RS stores for this stuff.

i think maybe i'll save this for my son's vehicle, and go get mine from another store.

Haven`t seen my style. I copied it from someone here years ago so I can`t take credit for the original idea. It`s just a bracket utilizing the two bolts above the tail light. My cb is under my ashtray.

PS. some of you have more electronics than the space shuttle.:D

That's incredible! Yes, I would def put the antenna in that location... what kinda tires there? The vehicle is incredible! Great job!

I was also thinking about using the stock antenna location, I don't use the radio... ipod only.

I use to have that antena location, mounted off the rear tail light area. I think I'm going to work on my new location, which will be a bracket based off the passenger mirror.;)

You'd have better luck with the roof.

Hopefully the new cb will be installed tomrw (don't wanna know about the other one. we'll just say that only the mic survived) Anyways, i got a new set up. it'll be hooked up sometime in the next day or so... i'll leave the roof mount since it's there. Thanks for the advice!

ha! too late, i found out... but i found this antenna t splitter at RS. nice! i think the stock antenna will be replaced by the cb antenna... and when out in way out places, just pop the mag mount on top and un plug the other from the t splitter...

I'm keeping the roof for travel...

there's going to be a body/side mount also. i finished a few projects, one being the reinstall of the cb. a couple wires are showing, but they'll be hidden tomrw... you can see where the opening is for the cb, but behind there is a duct.. so space is limited, but it fits well...

Here are more of mine to add to cyber's pic a few pages back:

A few benefits of this location are an easy install (cable runs through an existing firewall hole), it folds back to get in and out of the garage and the signal is pretty good for only having 1/2 a ground plane.
