CEL but not able to get a code.

I bet someone knows. My CEL came on during the week and with it what sounded like a exhaust leak. Today I went to get the oil changed, scanned and chek the leak and what do you know when I started th Ex in the morning no cel and no leak, wtf? Anyone had this or dealt with it? 97 xlt awd 5.o thanx.

I'm more an asker than an answerer, but since you're not getting any other responses:

Are you saying you put a scanner on it and no codes appeared? Was this while the CEL was still on? I've had a couple issues over the years where the CEL came and went, but as long as I had not disconnected the battery or otherwise cleared them out, the scanner still showed the codes that had caused it to come on.
