Champion- never again

So my explorer was running a little rough. I maybe drive it 3K miles a year so I thought the injectors or something got dirty and tried some cleaners.

Decided to pull all the spark plugs and found this. I don't remember exactly when I put these plugs in but it can't have been more than 10k miles ago.

I promptly changed all the plugs to Motorcraft.

Different brands of spark plugs have different heat resistances and the engine is built to those specs. That's why Ford recommends Motorcraft/Autolite and Dodge recommends Champion for their engines. So I use Autolites in my Explorer and Champion spark plugs in my Dodge Ram.

Champion is not a bad brand, its just not what works best for Ford engines.

your truck doesnt burn oil does it? looks like it does with the crud thats on whats left of the electrode

I've never had good luck with Champion in anything.

ive seen motorcraft plugs with more than 200k on it that worked sufficiently, ill never use anything but

You shouldn't be using copper plugs in your explorer.

Double platinums are what OEM specs for long life and reliable service. Iridium works well too.

How did the other five plugs look?
