ok so how much do i put in, and how in the world do i drain it and fill it up, its doing my head in

The radiator has a drain ****, start there. Undo the overflow cap. When that's done, you could undo the lower hose to the radiator, or really get involved and pop off the shield below the radiator and undo the hose their.
This is a great time to do your thermostat as well.
Now on mine, I did the water pump, which let out even more fluid.
I refilled via the thermostat port until it leveled of after shaking the car. Note, it would fill up and go down a bit. I kept adding and waiting and it took a bit more this way. Then, you could take the upper hose and rotate it up, fill the radiator this way, but you risk fill the hose too. Which, when you bring the hose down to connect it, well you know.
From her, you'll do what others have done, but a lot less. Close the system, run the car, watch the overflow tank and keep adding fluid.
Premix your fluid, depending on how much you get out, plan on two jugs of the yellow fluid. I use Zerex G 05. Just don't mix colors.
