Hi, do I need any special tools to change the rear bushes in my Ford Explorer, or can remove the old ones by hand and install the new ones?

I punched mine out. There is a small amount of metal on the bushing that is bent over so it is larger than the diameter in the frame to hold it in ( I guess ) and I knocked those back first. I think I used a socket just smaller than the diameter of the hold in the frame and knocked them out. I think others have heated up frame around the bushing first and made it easier to come out. I will say it took quite a bit of force to knock them out. I am now wondering why a press would not have worked when I did this.

the only thing that can make this job hard is rust.
