Code P1299

This code was thrown once while my truck was acting up. the engine runs then stalls and the fuel pump relay goes crazy as does the CEL. the P1299 says engine overheat, but why would that cause the engine to stall. The dash gauge reads normal temperature and the truck was just getting going fo rth eday and it thinks its overheating? I am confused and this think keep sstalling periodically

Yes, the truck thinks its overheating. If youre sure its not overheating, then I would check out the temp sensor and wiring to the PCM.
