Compressor Switch Modification

I have read about a Compressor Switch Mod than enables me to turn off the compressor when not being used. On another forum there is a HOW TO article describing the procedure. My question is, does this Mod cover the 2006 Ranger XLT pickups?

You can wire a switch into the compressor clutch switch of any vehicle. You need the AC compressor for defrost, think of that before proceeding. Good luck,

Also your AC compressor runs year round to prevent it from going bad during the winter months. The gains by disabling it seem marginal, I personally wouldn't risk it.

I have seen no difference in gas mileage with and without the AC.

I wouldn't do it.
