We have been invaded by rats!
I had set traps to no avail. They just spring them and carry off more stuff.

Went online and bought secret weapon. Rats your days are numbered.

The last straw was when they carried off a BAG of popcorn, telltale signs popcorn disappearing under the dishwasher.

Things they have eaten and or stolen dogfood, bread, Stic-ette's bananas, potatoes, the list is endless, BUT, NO MORE!

Last night I set 3 *T-Rex's with dogfood for bait, right in front of the diswasher.

Zukman walked through the kitchen at 3 AM to go to work, ran back and woke me up. "You gotta see this! We got one!" 8 inches without the tail, and 3 inches around.

    * yes we are a dino sort of family! lol

"Mess with the best, Die like the rest!"

    dogfood works so so

chocolate and peanut butter = the sh*&, we had a packrat (huge SOB) in my parents house, was eating things without getting trapped
    traps were too small

pack rats are LARGER then you think! LOL we caught those suckers.....

I love Ratatouille, great flick, but still they must die!!
what is a Trex? a cat? LOL
I need to know your secret weapon!

We have field mice problem in our neighborhood. Its pretty bad on this street.
We've never had one in the house but i have seen them in the garage.
This is what ive come up with.

Set out poison. D-con works good. Also set out a bucket of water. A short bucket, like what you would use to wash your car with. Rat poison is an extreme diuretic. After they eat the stuff they go nuts looking for water. They come to the bucket instead of dying somewere in the house.

I have dogs so cannot use poison, they would have been long gone if that were the case.

Secret weapon. Trapper T-rex traps! They are made of plastic (no blood contaminated traps) and have jaws like a T-rex! ( its not pretty when the trap is full!) These traps are made for Norwegen and roof rats. Very easy to set and he can't move fast enough to avoid.

This rat stole more dogfood then I could afford to feed! (at least we had taken the dogs off the high priced stuff!)

Keep in mind that rats have babies, that may not be of sufficient size to trip the big traps. Consider smaller traps later in the campaign. And yes the suckers are cannibals if the traps are not serviced often.

    Good Luck!

The early bird may get the worm, but the second rat gets the cheese.

This is what cats were created for. Of course, our cat likes to bring them in the house, let them go and then hunt them down.

We had a mouse problem. Tried poison, and I must WARN YOU... IT CAN BACKFIRE! Had one died in the wall of my daughter's bedroom. stunk up half the damned house, and her room was unbearable for two weeks! I tried glue traps, snap traps, etc. got a cat and no signs of mice since.

Also I will put this out: Find their entry holes and stuff them with steel wool.

I would entertain another cat, except--- did I forget to tell you I have dogs?? lol I really like the house the way it is! And they are labs, they have already moused the backyard several times over, and come back in the house with the galloping squirts for their trouble! Can't even imagine what a whole cat would do to their system!

WHAT????? I'm surprise you being an ex-Agric. inspector that you don't have a rat box outside. The dog's can't get into though's. I use them at my client's house's with dog's. You put them along the side of the house or under bushes. Also, a cat usually won't go after a big rat. :D

Makes sense, but what happens if the rat dies outside and a dog eats it?

it's a metal trap with a one way door that will let the mice/rats in, but not back out.
