Caulk (without silicone) will harden over time and just crack and come loose. Use a caulk with silicone or a tube of silicone.

Even though it is outdoor latex caulk for sealing windows and doors?

You planning on getting it wet?

My advice: if you are building your own box, do it right the first time. It would suck if that thing starts leaking in the future and you have to take it apart and strip out all the cracking caulk and silicone it. I personally use liquid nail when constructing the box, which does a good job of sealing itself, then a bead of silicone on the edges, and your golden.

Thanks, your right, I will go with the silicone, I used wood glue on the construction part of it which should be sufficient according to a few others.
