Hi all, so I have been reading online on how to do a test light for pos and ground with built in lamp.

Here's what I have, I can purchase a cheap test light and a 12v cigarette lighter plug.

1st I'd have to remove the alligator clip and wire from the test light

hook the cigarette plug wires to the bulb (this will give me the built in lamp)
then I'd extend those wires and use diodes.
The pos side would go to a diode, then a green led.
The - of the green led would be soldered to the poking probe.

This would mean that if I touch a ground with the probe, I'd get a green light.

Now, ground wire from the cigarette plug would go to a diode then a red led, the pos side would be soldered to the probe, that would mean that a I'd get red light if I touch a 12v source.

    Any flaws in my design?
I looked for a how to but couldn't find one and I know I can buy one already made but wanted to try and build it myself just for the fun of it
