Do you move right for faster Traffic?

I just got back from a long trip from MI down to SC across to GA then back up and I tell you that many of you live in very courteous states.
Once I was out of MI almost everyone moved right when I approached, it was wonderful.
Here in MI the rule seems to be to cut the driver in the fast lane off, then get pissed off that they want past you.

Sorry about the rant - tell me what you think.

Thats the number one complaint about Michigan tourists over here , that they get in the left lane and stay there no matter what. Now Im not putting them all in this group but this seems to show a trend.

Hi Shaun - Yeah, it just kills me sometimes. Last night going up 75, some moron in an escort cut me off (I'm doing 77mph set on CC) and he proceeds to go 68mph for the next mile (in the fast lane) pacing the guy next to him. Now me - If I were in an escort and just cut off a vehicle twice my size going 9mph faster I'd not only be ashamed but alittle scared that I almost got squashed. But NO!!!! this Tard starts brake checking me.

Over here the rules are that you should not stay in the overtaking lane when the inside lanes are clear. Try telling that to all those who drive up and down the M1!. When I was in FL I was very impressed by the patience and courteous driving. Perhaps it was just me. We are getting more like the French shut eyes and go:D .

The left lane is for PASSING. If I'm in the left lane doing 80 and I see a car coming up I get over.

Of course, people need to learn what that little stick coming out the left side of the steering wheel stalk is for, and USE IT, but that's a different gripe... How about cell phones?? :D

Don't get caught in some states, even if they're over the speed limit, you can get nabbed for that, and the other person can get a speeding ticket...

If you see a person coming up on you and you KNOW - that eventually they'll be right on your a$$ if you DON'T move, why wouldn't you just move right.

In so far as going around you - In Michigan thats called "Improper Passing" and is something the MSP is now actively ticketing for.

As for the idiots that want to ride your a$$ in the middle lane - I say all bets are off - LOCK IT UP!

I'm usually in the fast one, but I'll usually let faster people by me just in case there's a cop ahead:) . When somebody come's up behind me and ride's my ass for no reason I'll find some old grandma doin 20 under and block the person behind me. Also one of my friends has a habit of using the median and shoulder to get ahead of slower traffic. He figure's that they put em there for a reason, might as well use em:cool: .

I'll move if I notice it in time just because I hate it when people don't move for me (if I can't get around them in the other lane, but they would have room to move). I always seem to get the people who cut you off and are going way slower than me and pace with the car next to them...

Someone said something about cell phones... Today I was turning onto another street, light was green and people stopped coming from the other direction... We (my side of traffic) started moving and as I get halfway into the intersection I just barely caught a woman on the phone about to hit me. So I ended up in the uncoming traffic lane (no one was there). She didn't even blink... I should have let her hit me... Free repairs...

Hmm, back to the subject... Sort of.. There's this one spot in Bryan where it seem everyone like to go 50-60 all the time.. And it's only that one spot, always pisses me off cause that's my exit. Would go to the one before but contruction's been there forever... Anyone experience this kind of thing? Ok, I'll stop talking now...

I put a "sometimes". When I go up and down I-25. I usually stay in the left lane the whole way b/c there are so many slower vehicles, and usually the left lane has a line to pass them. Once you pass one slow car, there is another one just ahead of it. So it is easier just to follow the guy in front of you in the left lane. When it is clear on the right and someone is behind me I go to the right. What I really hate is when there is a big line to pass someone and everybody passes you in the right lane, then cuts you off. %$#%$ it!! WOW! they are a whole one car further from where they were. That would save a whole .00001 seconds.

i always do, cuz i know i get pissed when someone doesnt do it for me. i also like to avoid accidents whenever i can, heh, but so far in jersey, it doesnt seem to matter - no one in this state knows how to drive anyway.

Yeah I usually get out of the way and let them go by, and maybe get back in the lane again.

I always move over because I hate people going slow in the left lane. I think the worse thing is when I move into the left lane to pass a car and another car or two come up behind me right on my a$$. Then they move over and pass me on the right before I think there is enough room to safely move back in front of the car I just passed.

I always move over unless I'm close to passing someone. Sometimes even if I'm close to passing them but am passing slowly, I pull in behind them and wait to go around. I hate people riding my bumper. Even though I'm higher yada yada, an accident at highway speeds is not fun. In the city though, if they want to risk going underneath my truck, go right ahead!

Hell, I have no option but to. With 33's and 3.55 gears, I can barely even get going fast enough to get in the left lane. I am usually the guy in the right lane that everyone just blazes by :D I've found I drive much safer now anyways, so I don't really mind people going faster than me...

Well tell ya what... Some of the rednecks here are soooooo stubburn. Here's the situation...

I was going 75mph in a 70 mph zone and I came upon this car in the fast lane (I was traveling at the left lane at the time). Well, I flashed my high beams at him telling him to speed up and move over because there was another car beside him going at the same speed (65 mph). Well, guess what he did? He slammed on his brakes. I immediately braked then moved to the other lane trying to pass him. He decided to piss me off by speed up again, but he didn't accelerate fast enough so I passed him then cut him off with a few feet to spare. People like that piss me off! I think he's in his middle 40's.

I will move over as I never ride the left lane unless i am passing. I do HATE those that do "ride" the passing lane like it is the only lane, while picking boogers.

      Here is what I do.

Get up nice and close to rear then begin to swerve back and forth.

This way they have to see you as you are in all mirrors. They look bach and see you swerving and hitting yourself on top of the head with touinge out. And they will think you are crazy and possibly dangerous to them and they had just better let you by. Much more effective than flashing brights. LOL

Hi Billy - I'll tell you that actually your state is one of the ones that prompted me (in a good way) to start this poll.

As for flashing your brights to get by - I don't think anyone in MI does that anymore, a couple of years ago there was a gang here in the Detroit area that was literally killing (couple of them were run off the road - most they just shot) people for just that.

Ahhh - to live in the Murder City...opps, I mean Motor City :D
