I have a project due on friday for my Data Structures class on doing a single insertion sort in C on a data file, and my C is extremely rusty even though it's been a year. my book is very unhelpful (as usual with this teacher). Basically all I need is how to write the code for it to read the data file and I can cover the sort.

I have taken two classes in C++ so I know a little bit about it, mostly the basics. Let me just say that C is the most redundant and boring way to write code. Really, it's a waste of time compared to today's standards.

My group finally put their noggins together and came up with the code, so we're now just making the presentation up.

I'd rather have written it in BASIC (don't laugh my first computer had to have basic to run, it was a IBM PCjr) or Cobol. but the teacher wanted it in C

I hate programming also, I'm majoring in CIS so programming is part of it, I'm much more interested in the hardware aspect of it than software.

      Thanks for the help

c is redundant, up to a certain extent. do you know what your thermostat in your house uses for code? what about your toaster? it's c. almost all embedded software programs use c because when you can code it well, it takes very little code to make it do what you want. java is only good for very large programs. just me 7 1/2 cents.
