double checking my resarch 02 v8

    Okay I've searched here and the internet
    Got a 02 limited v8 with horrible
    Knock sounds like tc tensioners
    But truck is losing oil and not on ground
    New motor time since its a 02 with W in the 18th
    Digit of vin only v-8 the will direct bolt in is another 02
    With V-8 and w in the vin correct

    Are you asking about what motors to use?
    You can use any Explorer 4.6 block and heads from 2002-2005.

    You may be able to use 2006+, I don't know. Again we are talking block and heads.
    Pan, Intake, valve covers, timing cover I think would all be fine as well. Some of the hoses were upgraded over the years and are certainly better in the 04-05 models.

    I've not personally done any swap work but believe this info to be true.

    You have the Romeo engine. If you use a Windsor engine, you'll also need the flex plate and possibly torque converter from the donor as well. At least the flex plate.

    Craps I need to update my explore list it's grown by 4 more and yes I'm looking for direct bolt in got a chance to buy wrecked 4.6 02 model for the mine I don't want to have to do a lot of part swapping

    hmmmm. I might be able to help you there. My mom just wrecked my 2002 yesterday. 68K miles. Entire passenger side has to be replaced. Bumper to bumper :(

    2002 V8 4X4. Motor runs great.
