Hi!
I have a 2000 Explorer XLS OHC engine which has rattled since I've had it (bought it used). The rattle does not go away with acceleration or continued operation. It sounds similar to a diesel or a valve tap. I hear the noise particularly under the driver's side of the engine. Could it be the tensioner pulley of the SOHC's? I changed the plugs and wires on the driver's side of the engine but this changed nothing.
