one of the local stations here is doing a giveaway for tickets to the NAPA 500. to win you have to guess how far their old "piece of crap ford explorer" will with no oil. one of the guys is going to drive it around 285 (the extremely busy loop around the heart of atlanta) with a drained engine until it dies. the person that guesses closest to the mileage wins. i thought it was kinda funny.

OKay so they are going to drive a early model OHV 4.0L Ex with no oil in the crankcase? I bet it goes about......5 minutes, until damage occurse then another 2 minutes before it seizes.

Who knows? Could go 30 seconds could go 20 minutes?????

Put some Pro-long in there, then remove the oil pan and shoot sand and water at the crank, like the info-mercial, should go all day, right? :)

I would guess that unless they drain it on the freeway, they won't even make it to the freeway before they can't drive it anymore (unlessof course they've used Slick 50 in it).

i don't know how they are going to go about.
that'd be funny if they didn't make it to the freeway.

I loved those informecials. I'd say about 3.67 miles. :p How did they pull that of in those infomercials anyway? My parents used to have a  Heep Wagoneer. We drove to Thompson Speedway(about 150 miles) A 1/4 of the way there the Heep lost a lot of power. We kept going anyway. When we get there the Whole engine compartment was covered in oil. The water pump gasket failed and leaked all the antifreeze into the engine pushing out all the oil it had a crank full of anti freeze and no coolant when we got there. We drove it all the way home. We had to stop 4-5 times to fill the radiator cause it just leaked into the motor. It actually ran good on the way home. It threw a rod right through the engine 2 miles down the road the next day on the way to the shop tho:D

Its a shame they have to waste an Explorer for a radio stunt. Hopefully the tranny will give out before they can do the actual stunt, and spare the X the humility:D

Hey, if the poor x has enough miles on it the motor might be loose enough to give a good accounting for its self before it destructs.
