I have a 2001 Explorer Sport 2WD (not a Sport Trac) and I'm having trouble finding suspension lift kits for it. Any ideas where I might be able to?

there are many different ways to lift your sport.

    - you can do shackles for the rear and TT (torsion bar twist) for the front which is probably the cheapest way to lift your explorer which will get you 1.5 in the rear and 1-3in in the front
( how ever much you decide to crank for t-bars)

-you get 3in lift spindles from doetsch spindles to lift the front

-you can go to camburg or dixon brothers racing and get a hardcore baja front lift but it runs in the neighborhood of $2000-$4000 i believe

what im gonna do to my 2002 sport 2WD which has the same suspension as yours is

    -3in spindles from doetsch ($330.94)
    http://www.doetsch-shocks.com/9.asp

-4in superlift rear lift which you can buy off their site separately. ($453.28)
    http://www.superlift.com/Catalog.asp?P=K494
just go under components listing and add the leafs and rear box kit to your cart

    - 3in performance accessories body lift (part# 883) its for a ranger but it will fit your explorer perfect ($188.99)
    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kit...?t_c=1&t_s=20&t_pt=3680&t_pl=3372&t_pn=PER883

and thats $973.21 for 6in in front and 7in in the rear which to me is totally worth it and it will get rid of the rear sag and your car will be level

Perfect reply Kris. Rider I would go with just the TT/AAL and the 3" body lift. It's very simple, cheap, and you can fit 33"s with minor trimming.

    Explorer Sport Suspension Kits

Hello Kris, Robbie. (Robbie, nice truck)

Today I went into one of our local places, NorthShore Off-Road.

They said "Not a single lift kit exists for an '02 Sport 4x4" What?? you want 33x12.5's?? You'll NEVER fit those. This also sounded a little untrue.

This doesn't sound right to me at all. I've been going throught the site for weeks and have to say: this place is awesome.

I've heard some excellent ideas, but I'd sorta rather not do the TT - I'd rather keep all the travel I have and not potentially sacrifice the joints. ya know? As far as a the back goes, National Spring & Coil out here will recurve my almost flat leafs in the back and add another bringing it up to any height I want and add 600 lbs of capacity. It's the front that has me a little perplexed...

    hey thermobulk,

there are lift kits that will fit your truck...

see... our suspension is the exact same thing as the 1995-2001 explorer both 2wd and 4wd

superlift makes a kit for the 2001 explorer/explorer sport 4x4 that will fit your truck.

    http://www.superlift.com/Catalog.asp?P=K494&V=212

how much lift are you gonna get out of the new leafs?

because im too puzzled on how you would lift the front without the TT, which i dont blame you for not wanting to do cause i feel the same way.

but id say just go on ahead and order the superlift online and get someone to install it.

and i would also get a 3in body lift because its a good cheap way to lift your car.
    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...72&t_pn=PER883
...it says its for a ranger but it fits perfect

and you would have something like this that almost makes 33's look small

    That's a pretty impressive Sport...

    Thanks Kris,

So the guy from North Shore Off Road called me back the next day, and said he'd found something that would work. It's the exact same SuperLift Kit that you're suggesting. It runs $2,300 US and is about a 6-8 hour install. SuperLift warns...no, PROMISES that you'll lose your front driveshaft within 20,000 miles (32,400 kms for us).

National Spring said they'll put it as high as I want - they bend leafs on site, so if it's not perfect, we'll just bend them more!

Here's the kicker: I only paid $3,500 CAD for this truck. The suspension lift would set me back at least that. Kris, I can't track down the thread...but one of the other elite explorers (I forget the name) went on a pretty impressive rant about how if they knew then what they know now, they would have NEVER spent all the cash on the susp. lift, and just went with the BL, at 1/10 the price. Now, if all I'm looking for is clearance for some 33" Cooper STT's or Open Country M/T's, then I could probably just get away with the BL and some shiny new coil overs.

That Sport you gave pics for is pretty impressive eh? Funny though, Sports are only short little 2 doors to begin with...the taller you make them, the more sawed-off they look.

    Thoughts?

i think ive seen that thread you where talking about...

yeah $2300 is a little steep...which is why im almost glad i have a 2wd cause lifts are cheaper... but 4wd rules so i cant be 100% on that

but i believe you will be plenty glad which new coil overs and a BL w/ some 33's

i just wasnt sure how much you were willing to spend on our suspension..

that explorer is impressive but now that you say something your right the taller the sports get the more sawed off they look... but who cares as long as it performs...

    Agreed, performance is best...

...but it's like when you see a sidekick on 44's & 12" lift driving down the street and you're like: "I wonder what would happen if he needed to stop suddenly..."

    Thanks for your advice Kris:thumbsup:

Hey you might want to check out this thread.

    http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127121

It seems that this is the cheapest way to lift any explorer.

Also I was wondering if anyone has replaced a monoleaf with a 4 Door Leaf Pack on a 1998 or other Explorer Sport 4WD?

For those who have I would like to know how much lift you got from the swap, from just the mulit leaf pack (no AAL, or shackles).

Currently on my stock 98 I am measuring 32-3/4" from ground to body fender (measurement taken in line with wheel hub). What was your's in the beginning and what did it end up being?

Also does anyone know how to search for photos of just lifted sport explorers?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I have searched every thread and this info. is not available.

Kris that link to the photos of the sport explorer were helpful. I would like to see some other sports with different lift options.

Looks like Nick's (the first one) was the most interesting.

Although some other guy had a 9" lift...a little much for me...and my gf still needs to be able to get into it ;)

It looks like I'm gonna go for the 4wheelparts lift kit:

    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kit...?t_c=1&t_s=20&t_pt=3680&t_pl=3372&t_pn=PER883

So if I'm right, and I am about half the time, I'm going to need to complete the AAL + Leveling, and then proceed with the BL (The BL kit assumes you're starting off with a level vehicle).

And then, I'll stick the 33x12.5's on with some nice plain black steel rims, trim as necessary (if need be), and I'll be a happy guy...for now.

I have the PA 883, everything worked perfectly, couldnt use some of the pucks since the ranger kit has more body mounts, and the front bumper had to be manually relocated vs the mount they give you in the kit but it took maybe 4 hours to install!
