I googled your exact term and got a hit. EGR valve. You might try cleaning it if it is possible to get it off.

This is a 49 state vehicle no egr. The throttle body was changed, it ran fine for a long time. No codes. She did explode a spark plug,(that was fun!!) Considering putting the original throttle body back on.

Try turning the key to on for 3 seconds, then back off and then try to start it. Your fuel system may not be holding prime.
