Hey everyone...
I keep reading about people RENTING the fan clutch tool for 80 bucks or so.
I bought one the other day for 21 dollars at Riebes. Huge time saver and not nearly as expensive as I thought. You will need a 1/2" rachet for it though.
The fan shroud said it was right handed thread, which was correct (remove counterclockwise). The fan turned counterclockwise, and it makes sense to unthread it the direction of rotation. I was confused because i know the motor rotated clockwise. I forgot the serpentine belt made the fan rotate opposite.
Other than smashing my finger against the AC cooler when it suddenly came free (blood blister under the fingernail), the tool worked perfectly!
