Left with 10 days to myself house/dog sitting for my sister in Fayetteville, NC, I decided I'd do a little work on the 'ol X. First off I knew since I first received the X I really wanted to do some work on that ugly front end, and being a college student, I dont have the cash to get a new front bumper, so I decided I would just re-paint it along with the rear bumper and side moldings. After about a days research I decided on using Krylon Fusion Textured Shimmer in black.
After all the disassembly and a little more research here on the forum, I decided I would also like to take off that bulky front license plate bracket, paint my grill and add some aux lighting.
For the grill I used a base silver and then added a light flat black to give it a nice, distinctive look. Both the silver and black used were high heat resistant paint...I forget which brand or type it was.
And as for my lighting, I decided on mounting 2 100W driving lights behind the grill and 2 55W fog lights in place of the tow hook covers on the lower valance.
Some pics of the X before:
After disassemble:
After a good washing and buff:
Lighting install:
And the finished project:
Here's a good before and after...
Sorry for the short write-up, but I just wanted to share a little of the work I've put into the X. After all the work I am very please with her slightly new appearance. Feel free to ask any questions or add some comments, I'd love to hear some feedback!!!
