fob died, how do i turn off alarm if i open door with key?

So I have a 2003 Ranger. The FOB apprears to have died. The lights were left on, so I want to open the truck using the key. In the past opening with the key sets off the alarm. I bought it used and it didn't have a owners manual. I am pretty sure it is a factory alarm. It has the red flashing light/button below and to the left of the steering column.

I don't want to be stranded and have to get a jump start for a dead battery.

put a new battery in the fob

If the Key FOB is shot. You could probably find a new one on Ebay. I have to do that myself on a Nissan I used to have.
