If the amp has speaker level inputs then you can use the stock radio, you'll just tap into the rear speaker wires.
I assume the 2500 watt is a typo since very few amps produce this much.

You are going to blow your subs with that much power more than likely.

yeah he wasnt sure whether it was 2500 or 1500 but he had this system installed in his old jeep and my brother is friends with him and he would always go out to lunch with him and he would bump his system and it never blew out or/and nothing was wrong with it.

Should that amp be 2500 watts... I wanna see that get dumped into to 500watt subs, and not smoke em, that is, the volume also has to be able to be turned up and crank....

they wont explode if you don't turn it up very loud. I don't want to get into the details, but basically a speaker's impedence (ohms) is constantly changing, and with that the wattage sent to it is also changing. So basically, if you don't ever turn it up very loud, then they wont explode or anything. One more comment: He is probably talking about an amp with a rating of 2500 or 1500 watts MAX. This really means nothing because thats only how much that amp can put out in short bursts, not continuosly. Find out what the RMS rating is on that amp and then look at it. If it's more than the subs can handle RMS then you'll start messing stuff up.

Someone mention not turning the volume up would make it OK, is that true for a little difference in RMS? I'm getting a 400W RMS audiobahn 12" and have found a good price on a 500W RMS amp, would that cause problems, what about the gain being turned down?

About the original post, I'd check the speakers really good (being used) if they had that much power going to them and were constantly up loud.

    YES. that is it.

Are those good amps? And also if i get the amp and the subs can i just get a face to power my stock speakers (and not get new speakers because my stock ones are good) and use the amp to power my subs with and get a bass knob. (its a little knob they install in your dash to adjust the bass on your subs.

Oh, if you're going anything over 1000w ... you might want to look into bigger/better subs. I'm not sure though ??? :D :hammer: (sarcasm)

but he used those same (2 mtx 10inch subs) when he used the system in his car. Is there not a way to not use all of your amp if it turns out that the subs cant handle it?

And if you've only seen 1600 watts when thats probably it.

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone mentioned the fact that, depending on how they are wired, he could easily send much much less power to those subs than the amp can produce? I have an amp that I am running at 1600 watts RMS right now, but depending on how you wire it up, it can produce 200,400, or 600 watts to each of two subs (4 ohms, 2 ohms, and 1 ohm)... Sure it would be a waste to buy that big of an amp to just run it like that, but it can be done so as not to blow the subs.
