I believe the tool for your proposed idea would be an angle grinder. A sawzall would be an ugly cut. A dremmel would take forever. Sorry just picking on you. I like the idea of getting another one from a yard. That way you dont screw up your only one.

Well i don't know how much this helps but has anyone taken apart the airbox of a 97 or so ranger with the 2.3l motor. Well here is the interesting thing. If you take apart one of those, inside that stupid looking round airbox is a plastic piece that bolts up to the MAS and has a round end that you can bolt on a cone filter to. My boss has a 97 ranger and for the longest time we wanted to adapt some kind of intake to it. So i grabbed one of the honda civic intakes for the display and fabbed it onto it. It worked good and didn't look half bad. But i had the prob with the MAS ,cause it's inside the stupid round airbox, till i ripped apart the airbox and wounldn't you know there was an adapter. So you could find one of those in the junkyard and just take it apart. it basically just unclips, unbolt the junk MAS from it and there is your adapter. Good luck

dave: I like your design, exactly what I was going to do... Just curious, why doesn't everyone do it? Seems so simple...

Did you just make something simple to hold it up?
