Hitch Question!

How's it going guys. I'm a new member here, and would like some input after failed search attempts, lol. I currently have a 2003 Explorer Sport, which I use as my primary fishing vehicle. I recently picked up a trailer to haul my kayaks, and have been using the ball on my bumper ever since. I was wondering if anyone has ever installed a bumper hitch on their explorer (2" receiver on a plate, mounted directly on the bumper underneath). I will try to find a picture to upload, but if anyone has ever done this, please post pics and/or your experiences. I don't feel like forking over the $150 for a class 3 hitch since I'm not going to be pulling more than 1000lbs. Thanks in advance!
