Hi my name is Miranda I have an 03 Ford ranger 2.3 does anyone no how difficult replacing timing chain is

Hello Miranda, welcome to the forum. That engine is an interference design, is the engine currently running or did something happen to the timing chain? To replace the timing chain, the front cover of the engine has to come off. There is an alignment tool needed for the sprockets.

It is not running

I'd recommend doing a leak down test on the cylinders. It is a test to check if the valves are bent. If it fails that test it would be cheaper to replace the engine than repair it.
