"panel replacement recommended",
...but its a bare panel-it must be prepared and painted.
also-no mention of any warranty like 5yr/Unl. miles.
This is 2 pages, it could be missing info.
fyi 16-0028 states
"Panel replacement is not required."
this TSB also has prep & paint procedure.

ALUMINUM PANEL CORROSION
TSBID: 201136 Mfg Num: 17-0062 Issue Date: 2017-08-23
Update: Dealer ordered the hood 3 weeks ago with a release date of 22 Feb 2018 (today)...but, on Friday, 16 Feb I called the Dealer to confirm status of hood. Dealer told me the hood won't be released/shipped until 23 March. I checked with some other local Ford dealers and one in town has a hood in stock, but my Dealer told me they have to wait for the Warranty Hood and can't use the Hood that is located 3 miles away...something about Warranty prices
I'll let you know if/when the hood arrives and work is completed.
Service dept said Ford wont cover however all paperwork they showed me were from their computer, not correspondence from Ford.
They said they would take pics and send but they didnt once they searched my VIN in their ESP database,
Item they searched -"Paint" & my VIN - all relevant car warranty info shows and status is "No Coverage Found".
We reviewed TSB info and they were nice about it,
the service advisor gave me the nod to try opening a case with Ford, as he said has seen plenty of this issue pass through the service dept.
So ill do that...

So they turned down your claim because your vehicle is outside the 36months/36,000 mile basic warranty? Do you think that is the reason?
Yes. A TSB is only done free of charge as long as the vehicle is under warranty (OEM or ESP).
My hood was replaced. They told me it didn't matter about if it was in warranty or not. They said it was an issue that should be corrected regardless.
No specific reason given, that's the response they sent me.
...well if anyone see's it specified somewhere and its something different than 3/36,
post it here...
Glad you were able to get a new hood. However, what you were told about being in or out of warranty was wrong. Aluminum body panels on 2016/17 Explorers are covered for 5 years, unlimited mileage.
...got no response from a pm to FordService on here, any other ideas to kick this too?
-so lets recap
-dealer-said we'll take great pics of your hood, hey lookit all the TSB's! no dice kid...
-Ford service via online chat took case and response is above...
-PM here so far no reply.
at least tomorrow is Friday...
Just curious as to how you PM'd FordService as they haven't been on the Forum for over a year and won't be responding to any PM from the Forum. Did you use the contact info provided on some of their old posts? Just want to make sure.
yes from older post here.
-they have FB, Twitter cust service on their support contact site as well as Owner portal...
Thanks. That was I was going to suggest had you done it another way. I've used that same info before for members looking to contact them.
My current 2011 is waiting for parts to repair the Takata air bag. It's well out of warranty.
Since when do the 11 Explorers have an airbag recall?
And a recall is always 100% covered regardless of warranty.
I meant my Fusion...
I brought mine in today for some bubbling on the front of the hood. Ford approved a full panel replacement but it will be a few weeks before it arrives.
Update: I received my Explorer back from the body shop last week...with the new Hood. They did a great job matching the paint. They did not replace the underhood decals...does anybody have a pic of their hood underside with the decals showing? Appreciate it.
We have a 2013 Ford Explorer with only 31500 miles on it. We notices about a year ago a small bubbling of the paint right at front edge of the hood. We didn't think much of it but now it just keeps growing and there are several spots over the last couple of months. I called our local Ford dealership and service couldn't help but said to take it in to their auto body shop to have them look at it and they will determine whether or not it's a warranty issue. She seemed to think it would not since it's over 2 yrs old and the extended warranty doesn't cover paint. So has anyone had luck with getting them to repair it or any ideas on how to take this further? this isn't right. We are so afraid that one nick in it and the paint will just pull off, we are afraid to even wash it.
I know this is a huge complaint but haven't seen really any resolutions.
Welcome to the Forum frustratedfordowner.
I think you may be out of luck. Starting with the 2016 Explorer aluminum panel corrosion is now covered for 5 years. Here is another thread regarding the issue; Resolutions - Hood Paint Bubbling Issue
Please complete your registration by adding the 'Required' "Trim Level" (Base, XLT, etc.) to your profile so it appears in the margin. That can be useful info to have at times. Thank you
I would start a case with Ford. There have been members with older Explorers that have been covered outside of warranty
Anybody who can snap a couple of pics to help me out? Thanks.
Would the body shop still have the old hood so you can check out the decals? I could take pictures of mine but I don't know if the decals are specific to the trim, year or country of the vehicle. Is there some specific info that you are looking for on the decals?
The body shop has disposed of the old hood. I’m looking for what the decals say and where they are placed...don’t know if they changed drastically over the 14-17 run, so any pics are appreciated.
