I was told that on my 94 Explorer XLT automatic with self engaging hubs that if the rear wheels are turning that the front wheels will not pull because the computer disengages them. Is this true and if so is there a way to bypass that so that when I'm stuck the front wheels pull as well.

Not true. Once 4x4 is engaged you are in four wheel drive. To unlock the hubs you disengage 4x4 and roll backward 20'

FR is correct. There is no computer controlling power in the tcase. Whoever told you that may be talking about a later model, or a different make.

If your front wheels are not pulling, either you're not in 4wd, or the auto hubs are shot. Refer to the above link for help with that.
