So my father just gave me his 96 explorer xlt. I am trying to install a mtx 4250d amp and a pair of alpine type e 10 inch subs in it. The truck came fully loaded from the factory so it already has a 6 disk changer and a tape player I can use to play my iPod through (unless someone also knows how to hook up an iPod to a factory head unit). My question is pretty much, will I be able to hook up my newer equipment to a stock head unit and if so what will I need to make that happen? And if anyone does know the answer to the iPod question I would love to know how that can happen also. Thanks y'all

Yes on both questions

Click on search type:
6 cd changer wiring diagram

once you have that cut the line out of the changer and put some rcas on both L & R then do the same on the other side of the wires, but with a female rca instead

Then click on search and look for hi-lo converter

That'll get you all te info you need to wire the existing HU to your new amp+subs

Good luck and welcome to the forum
