I swear, it follwed me home. Kert's B2 project

.25" Bead lock rings came in today from my laser cutter. I saved about $100 plus shipping having my own cut rather than buying them. I also picked up some panhard frame mounts from work (with permission from the company owner) they are .5" thick :D.

it a lil late but im in but it is lookin good!!

Got the first beadlock welded up. A sharp eye will notice that it is a dually rim, this is because the front axle has dually hubs on it and it was cheaper to find wheels for it than change or machine the current hubs. I aired it up to 35 psi and am going to check it in the morning to see if it has some leak down.

very interesting. Like to see on truck.

It needs the axles attached first. I'm in the same boat as you I ordered some stuff from Ballistic over a week and a half ago and just got info that was shipped yesterday.

Tonight I welded up the remaining 4 beadlock wheels, 2 have dually offset for the front and the other 3 are a more "standard" offset rim for the rear and a spare. I figured since this is pretty much a trail only rig it wasn't a big deal if the spare tire offset didn't match the front tires since it would more than likely just be used to get off the trails to the trailer. It will still be a full size spare.

Edit: In case anyone is wondering stock F-350 steel wheels are 6" wide, with beadlocks (the kind that weld to the outside of the rim) they are widened a full 2" to make them equivalent to a 8" wide wheel.

FYI - Anyone looking for a good budget shock for their SAS. Rancho has an extended length RS5000 shock. Extended length 36in 21in compressed (15in travel). Part number is RS5036.

Right now Amazon.com has them for $40.40 each with free shippng

There is also a Rancho/Monroe Rebate out now for $20 back on an order of 4 shocks, so you can get 4 shocks for $140 shipped to your door.

Going to look at an engine today after work. I may have found my tranny/tcase combo as well. :D

nice work! thanks for the tip on the shocks.

working at industrious places has its benefits doesnt it?

Ya, it probably helps that I am currently the lead designer on a 4wd 4wheel steer (solid axles with hydo wheel motors on each wheel) vehicle at work right now too, so I can have "dual purpose" parts made :D

Anyway... Here's pics of the engine I picked up for a whopping $40 off craigslist. It runs, but burns oil, so it will need a rebuild. It is a 1975 ford 300 inline 6.

Here are some size examples the engine on the floor is a 302 with big marine exhaust manifolds on it.

Update: Beadlocks need one more coat of paint and they can get crossed off the list.

Also, I'm taking a road trip tomorrow to go look at a NP435 4 speed trans to put behind the 300. The 6.69 to one granny first gear is looking pretty good :D

Nice choice on the inline 6.

NP435 attached to check for clearance

This picture shows the modifying that is needed to fit the power train into the B2. I think it will fit fine after I make the new hole for the shifter, but I may have to make a new front cross member.

Any updates? I'll be watching this thread till the end!

Working on the engine install. I started a separate thread for it encase someone wants to try putting an inline 300 into a B2. A link is in my sig. Basically I'm working on removing the factory cross member because it is in the way of the oil pan.

dude!!!!!

This is an insane build, nice! 300 i6 and uni-links in a BII

friggin awesome, I havent come in here in a while and now I find this????? Keep us posted!! that will be one badass rig

it will be alot of fab work to stuff that long i6 in there wont it?

In my opinion, it's way easier to throw in a carbed 6 cyc and fab up some mounts than swap in an EFI 4.0/302 and deal with the wiring. This isn't exactly my first time designing engine mounts either, although most of them that I do (at work) are for hydrostats that don't actually handle the engine torque.

has soooo much potential =] very nice bII
