Good news it's all back together and drives...sort of.

Locker is not working right. So I have to take it back apart:banghead:

It's locked on the passenger side, but dead on the driver. The passenger will not release and with 5.13's and very little skinny pedal it spins like I'm running 700hp.:burnout:

Did it go at the same time as the axle shaft? Or is this separate carnage? 13 years is pretty darn good!

It was the same side, so I think it was stressed or fractured. Once It had any load on it again, it was done.

I've been happy with my Detroit, pretty much worry free like the powertrax...until it breaks:p.

You could do a 14 bolt in the rear and snag some 8 lug brakes from your parents to convert the front axle, I'm sure they won't mind:D

I have had a Detroit about the same amount of time you have had yours. Really like it, great road manners. I had a no slip for about a year before it blew on the Rubicon trail. It got stuck on, so it was like a spool for the long drive home. Had to cut the carrier in half to get it out.

After some research, the cheapest and fastest thing to do is just throw the same thing back in. It's limited slip carrier, so there is only one locker that will work. Doing anything else will cost at least double, and Oct. Truckhaven would be out due to time constraints. :dunno:

I never thought I'd say this, but I think in the near future, add a front locker, cro moly front shafts, maybe cage the engine, and it's done.

Not going to push this truck beyond what it can and can't do. It's great trail truck that will go just about anywhere. But it will never be a hard core rock crawler, without eating itself alive.

      I can accept that.

I am debating on a rear locker for my truck. I have been driving it more and more on the pavement. I need to get the welded diff out. I am leaning towards either a Detroit or a Yukon Grizzly.

I loved the Detroit in both of my rigs. The first one was a daily driver for a while, too.

I would do a Detroit, but then I have to reset up the gears, which ads to the cost and down time. Doesn't make sence for me.

All back together. They changed the design a bit on the locker. It looks like the sides are interchangeable now as both sides have c clip slots. This means I may be able to keep my old lockers non broken side as a spare.

      No buano:(

Locker works, but lots of clunky when it engages. I'll have to wait till the weekend to play with it more.

That sucks man. The ls carriers are kinda famous for breaking in half, so I would keep that in mind. When mine broke it put a huge hole in the diff cover and locked both wheels solid.

Also, I might be late on this but you can probably get parts from west coast differentials. I have rebuilt a few lockers that way.

The shock load from the breaking shaft is probably what broke your locker. Detroits have a reputation for this too. I killed a front Detroit locker that way once when I broke a front shaft.

Wakin up a thread here. Sweet X man. Now all you gotta do is put a 13 inch CRT tv in the center with an interactive CD-ROM and make a track so the thing can drive itself lol. O and don't forget to put locking mechanisms on the doors. All in all top notch ride

You seem to have forgotten that this JP is the extended tour model, it doesn't ride on tracks! As the tribute to it in Jurassic World clearly shows, look for it's number.
