I’m replacing the leaf springs on my 2000 XLT 4.0 sohc. Spring code “B F”
All the replacement springs are 1,100 - 1,250Lbs capacity. The weight of the truck by itself divided by 4 would be close to this. Which doesn’t seam right if the “capacity” means “max load.”

Is a Springs “capacity” it’s sugested load or maximum load?

Maximum load.

The springs do not carry equal weight front to back. The rear end is lighter. The front and rear GVWR on the door sticker will tell the proper split. Granted the leaf springs are a little on the softer side, but again we are talking about a passenger SUV and not a truck and passenger comfort is much higher on the list for design requirements.
