My oil pressure gauge is dropping to low while driving down the street. the truck is still running fine (doesn't bog down or anything). we changed the sending unit and the oil... not sure what to look at passed that....I have been told if the pressure was actually low though that the vehicle would bog down or there would be a change in performance but there is none. and I really don't want to have to pull the motor to get the pan off if it isn't necessary.

*bump* for a poster that has a problem similar to mine:salute:

Short answer.. Your oil "pressure" gauge is just an analog idiot light.. It reads "about" in the middle when there is 5psi of pressure. Any less and it reads very low...

If you have no oil pressure the motor will get very loud so you would know if you were really having a no oil pressure issue.

Search for fake oil pressure in the useful thread forum for more info about the analog idiot light.

The OP can do a quick mod to make the gauge work but you can't do that same mod on a 99.
