      if i take out the screen in my mass air flow sensor, will that mess anything up? thanks.

      'm not sure but a tech once told me the screen was necessary for slowind the air down and mixing the airflow.

      I think most people leave the screens off when adding open filters, I did on both mine.

      I have never had a problem.

      It won't hurt or help anything. I suppose it's there because paper filters aren't all that great.

      The screen is there to keep large debris out. The fine wires in the MAF can be damaged or contaminated by debris or insects. Removal of the screen will not give you much, if any performance increase, so I'd suggest to keep it there... Especially with the price of MAF sensors.
