If anyone has pulled a motor on an Escort/Tracer any insight is appreciated. According to Hanes and Chiltons the eng and trans must be pulled as a unit. Has anyone been able to pull a 96-02 2.0L SOHC SPI without the trans attached?

Thanks,
Mike

Is that one those engine/drivetrain that has to be dropped out from under neath. I don't think you have enough room to get the engine off the transaxle from above.

You can do it if you remove balancer and the accessories but it is still tight.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll be pulling the entire assy then.

----The drive axles should just slide out if I drop the spindles? Should be pretty easy as I just had wheel bearings and ball joints on...
