Was working under the dash the other day and found that the spring that holds the kickdown cable"detent cable" is gone that leads to the foot pedal...Im having problem with overdrive...When I put the truck into overdrive it does nothing...When Im driving down the road and put it into overdrive it works fine..

Can anyone help with this??....

Yes I can help with this, you need a new kickdown cable.

There is no point in buying a new one, it is a dealer item (trust me) and they charge WAY too much for them. Go strip one from a junk yard, just be careful when removing the clip from the firewwall, you dont want to bust the plastic retainers.

Your kick down cable is the only input the tranny gets from the real world, without it working properly your OD and shift points will be WAY off.

The computer controls a few things on these automatics but the adjustment of the kick down is very critical to overdrive and down shifting.

Thank you so much for your help and time...much appreciated...Rags
