Mods for a '99 Explorer

I'm about to buy my moms '99 explorer for 1200 and wanted to know what I could do to make it better for offroading
P.s. its a XLS with a 4.0L OHV V6 engine Thx

Welcome to the forum! As far as improving offroad capability i would look at doing a lift such as a body lift or a torsion bar twish with some warrior WAR153 shackles for the rear. You coul also do both lifts which would get you about 5 inches and allow you to clear 33 inch tires. My best advice is to search around on here. There is a wealth of information on this topic.
